Organization Description:
PEER Foundation is a non-profit organization that is working to support positive change in education by providing technology based workshops to students in grades K-6 and career exploration programs to students in grades 7-8. These programs are implemented during school hours and provided to all student populations in these age groups.
Sponsor's Responsibilities:
Our instructors bring industry experience to education settings. The programs are held at school sites during the school day. As guest instructors, we visit different school sites and provide weekly sessions on topics such as coding, robotics, 3D printing and app development. The students are exposed to real-time hands on experiences in these disciplines.
Extern's Proposed Duties:
The extern will act as an assistant to the instructor by monitoring student progress and helping them when they need additional support with different aspects of the projects. The extern will spend 4 days in the field with an instructor and one day in our offices debriefing on what they observed and learned. They will also be asked for input on the content and ways that might help us to better service the students.
