Kaiser Permanente International creates educational experiences that introduce health care leaders from around the world to the Kaiser Permanente (KP)model. Through our general and customized programs, seminars, and speaking engagements, we share KP's continuing journey to deliver high-quality, patient-centered, affordable health care.
Kaiser Permanente International is a non-profit subsidiary of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, the health insurance arm of Kaiser Permanente.
Sponsor's Responsibilities:
As Director of Kaiser Permanente International, I design and host programs for international visitors from more than 80 countries. In this role, I have two key client groups: international healthcare leaders wanting to visit or connect with Kaiser Permanente to learn more about KP’s approach to care and KP employees and doctors who are eager to share what is working and/or learn from international groups about health systems globally.
In addition to design and event management, I work throughout Kaiser Permanente to engage key leaders in sharing how KP works, lessons learned from our 70+ years of operations, and how we are on a continued journey to provide more affordable health care to individuals in the United States.
Current initiatives include: exploring digital programs KP International can create (online courses, different types of content, virtual coaching), creating new ways to offer an immersive KP experience, and offering professional development opportunities via KP Intl
Extern's Proposed Duties:
In addition to participating in a 2-hour overview presentation of KP for international visitors, the extern will have an opportunity to contribute to the design of our 2020 programs, and conduct a short research project on global health systems and/or social media presence for KP International.
This externship is great for students looking to understand one approach to healthcare (Kaiser Permanente's approach), to learn more about international healthcare, and to experience creating and optimizing programs designed to meet strategic objectives.
