Sponsor's Responsibilities:
As a lead technical writer, I create user assistance that describes how to setup, use, and troubleshoot our products. User assistance includes online help, developer manuals, videos, hands-on activities, and text shown on each page in the product. I base my documentation on specs, interviews with developers, product managers, customer support, and the product. I also lead side projects that help our team run more efficiently, improve existing content that spans multiple writers, and innovate on ways to educate our users about our products.
Extern's Proposed Duties:
The extern will observe my day-to-day activities, including meetings with developers and writers, writing/editing/updating content, and anything else I have scheduled for the day. We'll also have 1-1 sessions to talk about what they saw and answer questions they have. Each of those sessions will be held in various places around our San Francisco campus, including the new Salesforce Tower. If time permits, the extern might be able to help me with some of my writing tasks or edit my work.
