Organization Description:
CSU Fullerton is a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution. Most students are commuters and first-generation college students. The department of Chicano/o Studies is within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Sponsor's Responsibilities:
During the winter break, the faculty member, Dr. Gradilla, does not teach but instead focuses on his research. Currently he is working on a book prospectus and working on his manuscript.

Extern's Proposed Duties:
The externs will be assisting with some baseline manuscript assessments (flow of the project's proposed focus) and compiling preliminary search of news and policy databases for relevant information for the completion of data for a chapter of the book project. Students should be knowledgable in general about race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality and other key identity based issues (ethnic studies, sociology, anthropology). Students with good library and internet skills would be a plus. Optional not required: experience with creating annotated bibliographies and excel or other software to organize information.
