Sponsor's Responsibilities:
As Sr Manager, Software Development for Engines Applications Team, I lead a product and engineering Agile team in developing new features for Edelman Financial Engines. The Engines Application team is a back-end services team that exposes REST API’s for CRUD’ing financial household input data and complex Engines calculations for investment advice and simulation to both internal and external clients to power our Consumer Applications across all our products, both mobile and web.
My work is broad: helping define, focus, scope new product requirements as well as technical architecture and go to market strategy. Running Scrum, project planning, and coordinating work across teams. Ensuring team happiness, recruiting, and helping each team member in his/her career growth.
Our tech stack consists of Java, SQL Server, Spring, Hibernate, AWS (EC2, Beanstalk, Lambda, S3, etc), Angular, React.
Extern's Proposed Duties:
Observe an Agile product and engineering team at work from project planning, product and code design, testing, prod deployment, maintenance, etc.
Look at real world code and code architecture across entire tech stack from front end to back end in a AWS Micro Services environment.
Opportunity to meet with other folks in extern's area of interest: product management, front end engineering, back end engineering, software architect, engineering, leadership, etc.
