The Internal Revenue Service is a U.S. government agency responsible for the enforcement of tax laws and for the collection of taxes.
Sponsor's Responsibilities:
A Revenue Agent plans and conducts examinations in the field using extensive and specialized knowledge of accounting techniques, practices, and investigative audit skills to examine and resolve various tax issues of individuals and business organizations.
Extern's Proposed Duties:
The extern will meet with a variety of IRS employees in areas such as Examination, Management, Collection, Criminal Investigation to discuss job elements and career paths within the Government. Due to disclosure, inspection of live tax returns is prohibited; however, there will be a tax-related project to complete individually or in small groups involving audit potential, cash-T analysis, and taxpayer interview techniques
