Screen Gems Pictures develops and produces genre thrillers, romantic comedies, and horror themed theatrical motion pictures as a stand-alone unit under the auspices of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Worldwide Motion Picture Group. Since Screen Gems is a small division and has full responsibility for bringing its product to market, our externs, to the extent the opportunities are available during their externship, are exposed to various aspects of “making movies” as well as what it is like to work for one of the Major motion picture companies.
Screen Gems is searching for creative minded, hard-working and driven candidates for a development externship. Over the course of the externship, the intern will learn about the Screen Gems brand and the production process (i.e. creative development, casting)
Sponsor's Responsibilities:
The extern will gain experience/exposure to the following:
•Insight into Screen Gems brand building
•Learn who the major players (i.e. screenwriters, agents, directors, and studio executives) are in the film industry and their roles in the filmmaking process
•Learn how to analyze scripts and provide notes from a studio perspective. Learn how the casting process works
•Shadowing key execs to get an overview of the studio executive experience
Extern's Proposed Duties:
Extern responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
•Reading and providing coverage for incoming submissions and project drafts
•Research and compile lists / vision boards of potential actors, directors and writers for upcoming films. Additional support with project-related research for films in creative development
