Organization Description:
The Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) serves a population of about 500,000 people in central and east Contra Costa County. About 250,000 people receive treated water directly from CCWD, and the other 250,000 receive water that the water district delivers to six local agencies. The Engineering Department provides a safe and healthy workplace through safety training, program and procedure updates, employee committees, and review of safety incidents. All Capital Improvement Program projects, which include pipeline, pump stations and treatment plant improvements, are completed using a combination of comprehensive in-house engineering design services and consultant managed designs. Sponsor's Responsibilities:
My responsibilities include the overall performance of the Engineering Department in delivering capital improvement projects on time and within budget and ensuring appropriate resources are available to the team in meeting these goals.
Extern's Proposed Duties:
Extern's proposed activities are to shadow a project manager or project engineer to review design information, participate in field reconnaissance visits to access the feasibility of design alternatives, and visit active construction activities.
