Sponsor's Responsibilities:
The sponsor is a project manager and leader for the drinking water (including recycled water) department within HDR's southern California operations. Every day is different juggling project, staff, business development (marketing) and client needs. This means managing projects through reviewing scope and budget, communicating with clients and staff, preparing and reviewing designs, writing and reviewing reports, etc.
Extern's Proposed Duties:
The extern will shadow the sponsor. Depending on the needs of the day, the extern could attend meetings, proofread documents, perform design reviews, perform short tasks, and likely spend time with recent graduates to gain a better understanding of what could be expected of them once they graduate. This externship would beneficial to potential civil engineers: particularly if interested in environmental or water resources.
