EC San Francisco is a private English language school for international students. Located in the heart of downtown SF, we offer a range of courses for students with different backgrounds (tourists, students, and working professionals), along with a housing and activities program. Our mission is to help students succeed in a global community and our core values revolve around loving what we do, having a can-do mindset, going the extra mile, and delivering what we promise. EC was founded in 1991 with its first school in Malta, and the San Francisco center has been open since 2011. We average around 120 students from about 20 different countries with open, weekly course enrollment.
Sponsor's Responsibilities:
As the Center Director, I am responsible for oversight of all operations at the school: academics, student services, local marketing/sales, etc. I manage a team of 10 teachers and four admin staff. On a weekly basis, I'm overseeing and assisting with orientation, holding meetings, liaising with partners/other departments/executive management, holding focus groups, reporting and reviewing P&L and KPIs, and assisting with graduation and activities as needed.
Extern's Proposed Duties:
The extern will observe the day-to-day operations of the school, sit in meetings, interact with all staff members and students about their jobs and experiences, respectively, and assist with school operations lightly as needed. The primary task of the extern will simply be to observe most of my work as the Center Director and ask as many questions as he/she wants to better understand my leadership efforts behind what we do. While this externship is in the educational field, there is more of a business focus on operations/financials that I aim to take for the week the extern is here.
