The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at UC Davis is a leading referral center for the region’s most high-risk cardiothoracic surgical cases. The Division’s team of specialists combines extensive experience and skill with the most advanced technologies and procedures to provide a complete range of care for complex diseases of the chest including the heart, lungs and esophagus. The Division is noted for its research-based, multidisciplinary approaches to surgery and offers expert patient-centered care.
Sponsor's Responsibilities:
Dr. David Tom Cooke is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. He is the Section Head of General Thoracic Surgery, and the Program Director of the UC Davis Cardiothoracic Surgery Residencies. Dr. Cooke specializes in the surgical treatment of malignant and benign lung and esophageal disease, and minimally invasive thoracic surgery. Dr. Cooke's research includes oncologic trials, surgical outcomes/health services research, patient-centered outcomes research, surgical education, medical social media and public medical communication. Extern's Proposed Duties:
The extern’s proposed duties: The extern will have his or her choice to shadow Dr. Cooke and other surgeons in the outpatient faculty practice and/or observe operative cases. Time commitment is flexible, one or more days during the January time period.
