Western University of Health Sciences is a private non-profit health professions school that offers degrees in biomedical sciences, dental medicine, nursing, optometry, osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, podiatric medicine, and veterinary medicine.
Sponsor's Responsibilities:
As an Associate Professor in the College of Optometry and Faculty in the Department of Interprofessional Education, my days are diverse, from caring for patients in the optometry clinic, working with students in the classroom, to participating in service and research projects across campus.
Extern's Proposed Duties:
While direct exposure to patient care is not possible, externs will learn more about academic medicine, specifically as applied to optometry and, if interested, other health professions represented at Western University of Health Sciences. Sitting in on lectures, labs, and meeting with students and other faculty can be arranged based on externs' interests.
