Organization Description:
LEARN is an educational non-profit organization working to ENCOURAGE A CULTURE OF LEARNING by securing and providing resources to students and families in areas of need. LEARN focuses on college/career readiness, academic enrichment, parent education and activity for students and families through its five core values, they are: CORE VALUE #1 To foster the belief that all children can learn through constant support and guidance of LEARN staff, strategic partners, children and their families CORE VALUE #2 To provide quality programming through proven strategies to keep students interested in school as active learners through high school and beyond. Sponsor's Responsibilities:
The CEO works to primarily oversee that operations meet grant guidelines, works to create collaborations within the community at all levels from grass roots organizations to institutions of higher education, seeks out sources of new funding and resource collaboration and strategically plans the oversight and direction of all aspects of the organization.

Extern's Proposed Duties:
The externs will have the opportunity to interview the CEO, Chief Programming Officer, Finance Director and Field Staff supervisors to learn and gain some knowledge about the work that is done at an educational non-profit. Externs will also take site visits to observe first hand the work that is done at each level of service from elementary and middle school levels to high school. Externs will also visit with a panel of alumni connected to the fields of education and the non-profit sector. Externs will take a survey at the beginning of the externship and another at the end to compare their knowledge acquisition.
