Organization Description:
Packen is an app-based logistics solution for Colombia. We connect businesses and individuals with local freight providers, and offer all types of ground-based transportation from motorcycles to tractor-trailers via a website and Android App. Currently we operate primarily in urban markets in Colombia (Bogotá, Medellín, Cali), and are looking to expand.
Our small ( 20 person) tech team is in need of talented data scientists to help us understand new markets and new products.
Sponsor's Responsibilities:
As CTO, the sponsor is responsible for overseeing our entire technology team, providing technological as well as organizational support to the engineers and designers we currently employ. He reports directly to the CTO of the company and is integral in determining the product as well as technological roadmap for the company, with clear goals for 2020 and beyond.
Extern's Proposed Duties:
This can be a fairly open-ended project - we're looking for self-motivated researchers who can help us discover the questions we aren't yet asking. Experience in logistics/operations research is helpful but not required.
Externs will come to work in our office with the current (primarily Spanish-speaking) engineers, and be expected to contribute on a day-to-day basis to our repositories and project documentation.
Externs will be responsible for producing documents and possibly writing code/small apps. They may also work directly with clients or drivers to understand how they use the app and/or work.
